The Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William and Princess Catherine, paid a visit to Pontypridd in South Wales to hear firsthand how the community is recovering after being devastated by two major floods over the winter. Ahead of St. David’s Day, the royal couple’s visit marked their second joint engagement of the year and included a tour of local businesses affected by the floods caused by Storm Bert and Storm Darragh. Their presence highlighted the resilience of the community in rebuilding after the storms.
During their time in Pontypridd, the royal couple made a stop at The Welsh Cake Shop, where they donned aprons and got hands-on in the kitchen. Alongside shop owner Theresa Conner, they took part in preparing traditional Welsh cakes by kneading dough, rolling it out, and cooking them on a cast iron stove. Their visit not only brought attention to the local businesses but also underscored their continued commitment to supporting communities in need across Wales.
