Serena Williams recently shared the heartwarming story of how she and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, first bonded over their mutual love for Marvel during a dinner date. In her 2024 ESPN+ docuseries In The Arena, the retired tennis legend revealed that Alexis won her heart by talking about one of her favorite topics—Marvel’s Iron Man. “That’s the way to my heart,” Serena, 43, joked while reflecting on their meet-cute.
Alexis, co-founder of Reddit, admitted he wasn’t just throwing out Marvel references to impress her. He’s a genuine fan who has “deeply studied the text” and “has strong opinions about the lore.” Despite an initially intense date where Serena brought along her assistant and agent for backup, the couple found common ground over superheroes, sparking the beginning of their love story. The two are now happily married and share two daughters, Alexis Olympia and Adira River.
