She’s not just repping the WNBA — she’s repping Nigeria. Kiki Iriafen blends culture and couture in the most iconic way.

Okikiola “Kiki” Iriafen is officially headed to the WNBA and she did it in unforgettable fashion. The Nigerian American basketball star was the number four overall pick by the Washington Mystics in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and she made sure her moment was a celebration of both excellence and heritage. Kiki walked the draft stage in a stunning custom gold-and-brown beaded gown, complete with a thigh-high slit, designed by Nigerian designer Nneka Alexandra of Brides by Nona.

Speaking with ESPN, Kiki shared the thought behind her look: “I really wanted to showcase my culture on this stage.” And she did just that from the sequined detailing to the traditional beads and earrings, every element paid homage to her Nigerian roots. On one of the biggest nights of her life, Kiki didn’t just show up as an athlete she showed up as a proud Nigerian woman.
