Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s romance began with an unexpected meeting at a New York City restaurant 14 years ago, but sparks didn’t fly right away. “I didn’t want to have a girlfriend,” the Emmy-winning star tells PEOPLE. I was like, ‘Oh God, I don’t want to do this.’” Despite his reluctance, he couldn’t resist falling for Hilaria, 41, a yoga instructor and wellness expert. He joked about telling his friends, “It’s like a miracle!” when his feelings grew.
Hilaria fondly recalls how Alec took his time. “He shook my hand instead of hugging me,” she laughs. “It took him six weeks to kiss me!” Alec later explained, “I was dating someone before, and I didn’t want to rush into another relationship.” But once they kissed, the rest was history! Now married with seven children—Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, Marilu, and Ilaria—the couple shares their fun, chaotic family life on their upcoming reality show, The Baldwins, premiering February 23rd.
