Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s highly anticipated fourth novel, Dream Count, has made an impressive debut by securing a place on the longlist for the 2025 Women’s Prize for Fiction, just hours after its release. The prestigious UK-based prize, now celebrating its 30th year, honors the best novel written in English by a woman, with the winner receiving £30,000 and a bronze sculpture known as “The Bessie.”
Dream Count follows the intertwined lives of four women in America and Nigeria as they confront the complexities of memory, identity, and personal choices. Chair of Judges, Kit De Waal, praised the longlist for capturing the “echoes of world events on everyday lives” and celebrating the power of women’s voices in literature. The shortlist will be revealed on April 2, with the winner announced on June 12, 2025.
